Planned capability

Social media competitor analysisstarts with a better watchlist.

A useful watchlist starts with a question. It does not need to contain every account in a category.

Reference accountsSource-linked observationsA brief with boundaries

A clearer starting point
for the next team decision.

Choose comparable accounts

Record why each account belongs in the reference set: audience, content format, product category or the client question it helps answer. A large brand and a new creator can both be useful examples, but they should not be treated as equivalent performance baselines.

Keep the collection manageable

Organize accounts by client or research question. The planned workflow retains a source link and observation date so a teammate can inspect the original context. Supported platforms, history and refresh frequency remain pilot decisions.

Leave room for missing information

A missing observation is not a zero. Private, deleted or unavailable posts may be absent from a feed. The intended reporting workflow makes coverage gaps visible instead of filling them with an invented result.

Keep the limits visible

Know which source, observation window and comparison support the finding. The examples on this site are fictional; live coverage and permitted use must be established before a pilot.

✓
Starting pointFour fictional accounts / one category / seven-day window

Keep the source and scope attached to the work.

✓
Useful handoffA watchlist with a reason for including each account

The next owner needs enough context to understand the deliverable.

✓
Review decisionReview whether the accounts answer the same creative question.

A named owner should be able to accept, revise or reject the direction.

The details matter

Keep the interpretation close to the evidence.

Choose accounts for a reason

A useful reference set has a role for each account: a close category peer, a different creative approach or a relevant audience overlap. Record the reason for inclusion. A list of the biggest accounts can be easy to collect and hard to interpret. Review the set when the client question changes rather than treating every account as a permanent benchmark.

Keep the comparison window stable

Record when the observation was made and which posts belong in the window. Comparing a newly published clip with a much older one can create a misleading story. The planned workflow keeps these boundaries attached to the record. A pilot must confirm source access, supported metrics and observation frequency before a watchlist is used for real decisions.

A worked planning record

A finding someone else can follow.

A question, the supporting context and a decision that remains open to review.

A few things
to make clear.

Is this a live analytics service?+

Not yet. ReelsData is in development. All charts and account records on this website are fictional examples. Data coverage and refresh schedules will be established before a pilot is offered.

Which platforms will it cover?+

Coverage has not been committed. Each platform needs a viable data source, clear field definitions and a tested refresh policy. A pilot will name exactly what is covered.

Does an outlier predict a viral video?+

No. An outlier describes unusual observed performance against a stated baseline. It does not establish what caused the result or predict the outcome of a new post.

What should we agree before a pilot?+

Source access, permitted use, reference accounts, observation frequency, history and baseline methodology. All demonstrations here use fictional metrics.
